Excited and raring to go, we arrived in Hobart and headed to the car rental area. We knew our Tassie journey was off to a good start when Avis gave us a free upgrade on the rental car we hired! We found our way into Hobart easily, remarking how good the roads were. We checked in to our accommodation early so that we were free to explore Hobart with what was left of the day. This meant a trip to the top of Mount Wellington of course! The summit of Mount Wellington provides glorious views over Hobart and the surrounds. It was around 4:30 pm when we visited, a perfect time of day for the light and long shadows to play up beautifully to the landscape. Salamanca Place was a lovely spot for a stroll before dinner. After a nice dinner on Elizabeth Street, we only had a one minute drive back to our luxurious accommodation at the Elms of Hobart.
