INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE
1. Unregistered users
In order to contribute to My Tassie Journey, you need to register as a member. However, you may choose not to register and take advantage of the features of our site where registration is not required. If you do not register, the information we collect from you is limited. We log your IP address in order to help diagnose problems with our server and track usage statistics. It is extremely difficult to identify you through your IP address and we will make no attempt to do so. If you reached our site through an advertisement or link on another site, then we also log that information. This helps us optimise our Internet exposure and to understand the interests of our users. All of this information is collected and used to generate overall reports on our visitors but not reports on individual visitors.

We also place a small file known as a 'cookie' on your computer's hard drive. A cookie may contain information that allows us to track your path through our Web site and to determine whether you have visited us before. However, unless you register with us, it contains no personally identifiable information that would allow us to identify you. Cookies cannot be used to read data off of your hard drive, and cannot retrieve information from any other cookies created by other websites. We use cookies in this manner to help us understand how visitors use our site, and to help us improve our site. You may refuse to accept a cookie from us by following the procedures specific to your web browser. Although you may do so, you may find that your browser reacts strangely when visiting not only our website, but other websites as well. Since cookies don't provide us with any information from which we can identify you, we suggest you allow us to place one on your computer.

2. Registered users
Once you register with our site, you are able to create your own page and contribute to the forum. We collect information submitted by members such as name, email address, age group, address and country. This information is collected to authenticate users and send notifications to those users relating to TT-Line’s services and My Tassie Journey. The information we collect may vary but we only collect the information you manually enter into our registration form. We may store all or some of that information in a cookie file on your hard drive so that our system will recognise you each time you visit our site. This provides members with a customised website without having to type the password every time you visit. Additionally, authorised TT-Line personnel may update your registration information to accurately reflect any new information included in communications received from you.

DISCLOSURE
We do not sell or disclose personal information to any third parties for the purposes of direct marketing. If clients tell us that they do not wish to have their personal information used for a particular purpose, we will respect their wishes and you can e-mail our Privacy Officer.

We will co-operate with all law enforcement bodies in providing information when requested.

HOW WE PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
We treat all personal information as confidential. However, when submitting personal information for publication on our website you should be aware that the website may be accessed by any person worldwide and that we have no control over the information being copied or subsequently used and disclosed by other people. The information may also be indexed by search engines.

Despite this, we have a secure Internet transmission and take all reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information is protected from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

We will continue to develop and monitor security measures in order to decrease the risk of unauthorised access to personal information. We will continue to engage IT support to maintain computer and network security including access control for authorised users, data integrity checks, network intrusion systems, host intrusion detection systems and expert monitoring.

All information no longer required for any purpose will be destroyed or permanently de-identified. We cannot legally retain personal information unless we have a proper purpose for continuing to hold it. Permanent de-identification means that we are not able to match the de-identified information with other records to re-establish the identity of individuals.

Destruction of data must occur by a secure means. Paper based records should be shredded or disposed of securely by an authorised disposal company. Electronic records should be overwritten before being deleted.

LINKS
We are not responsible for the privacy policies and practices on other sites. When linking to another site, the user should read the privacy policy stated on that site.

BREACH OF PRIVACY
The Privacy Commissioner has the power to investigate complaints made by individuals about the way organisations manage personal information, or to investigate any act or practice that may be a breach of privacy, even if no complaint has been made. As a last resort, the Commissioner can make a final determination, which may be enforced by the Federal Court.

LAW ENFORCEMENT
The Privacy Act is not intended to interfere with legal obligations to disclose information for law enforcement and regulatory purposes. We have a procedure for the purpose of using and disclosing personal information for investigating and reporting suspected unlawful activity to the relevant authorities.

Written note of the disclosure is required, including the date of the disclosure, the personal information disclosed, the relevant law enforcement body and how the information was used, or to whom the information was disclosed.
